The Foundation That Doubles as a Fence, printed for a sitter

A live divination system shown as Algorithmic Oracles: Divination as Queer Method at the Museum of Queer Play, a pop-up museum at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, September 2026.

A sitter talks and Maya listens. From their dialogue, Tantric thought, and the day's AI news, the system generates a card that didn’t exist before, prints it, and I read it with them. Visitors brought their computational intimacies: TikTok time loops, dating-app déjà vu, recommendation spirals, and influencer fantasies. The deck treats algorithmic haunting as something playful to read rather than critique; t grew out of three Research Divination Picnics, where researchers applied tarot, the I Ching, and bibliomancy to research questions and writing blocks.
